This Allied OB links the WitD OB from Oct II 42 to the Jul I 43 Initial Forces in SF. The WitD Initial Forces as of Oct II 42 are based on the El Alamein scenario in TEM 63 (referred to as TEM 63). Corrections to the TEM 63 scenario are noted below. There are also a few extra units, such as the British 10th Arm XX that continues into SF for a while. This scenario starts with only the MTO forces able to move on the Oct II 42 turn. Only the Torch invasion forces may move in the Nov I Surprise Turn. The Allies may move their ETO and MTO forces from the Nov I Regular Turn on. The US Iceland Garrison is rigid, as is the US Near East Garrison. I believe I have linked up the Allied Air OB‘s to the Mar I 43 air cycle in SF. Except for the units that arrive in the Middle East between Nov I and Dec I 42, which were already at sea, the Allied player decides what units arrive in the Middle East/Near East from Britain after Dec II 42. The transit time from Britain to the Middle East/Near East is 4 turns. The Allied player controls both the Middle East and Near East commands and therefore all transfers between those commands have been deleted. The Allied player may choose between the conservative historical Torch landing, a Tunisia Torch (which the British wanted), a Sardinia Torch, or a Metropolitan Torch. Forces arriving from the US are fixed. The Allied player may choose what reinforcements to send from Britain to the Torch landing. The transit time is 1 turn. Below are the changes to the WitD OB from Nov I 42 on.
- The British 8th Arm XX HQ was historically disbanded 1/1/43, so on Jan I 43 there is a ‘disband or remove from Repl. Pool’ entry.
- The British 1st (11/1/45), 9th (31/7/44), 10th (15/6/44) Arm XX HQ’s were historically disbanded after Jul I 43, so these need to be added to the SF OB. The 42nd Arm XX disbands by conversion Oct I 43 in SF at the correct historical time.
- The British 79th Arm XX reorganizes into independent X’s Apr I 43.
- The British 44th Inf XX HQ was historically disbanded on 31/1/43, so on Feb I 43 there is a ‘disband or remove from Repl. Pool’ entry.
- The British 1st Arm X is listed as scrapped in TEM 63. In this scenario it is moved to the Repl. Pool and 1.5 Arm RP’s deleted from the initial accumulated Arm RP’s. It was historically disbanded 21/11/42, so on Nov II 42 there is a ‘disband or remove from Repl. Pool’ entry. In other words players can replace this Arm X on Oct II 42, use it for 2 turns, and then get their 3x Arm RP’s back on Nov II 42, a typical Europa slick trick.
- The British 20th Arm X was historically disbanded 30/4/43, so on May I 43 there is a ‘disband or remove from Repl. Pool’ entry.
- The British 24th Arm X was historically disbanded 1/3/43, so on Mar I 43 there is a ‘disband or remove from Repl. Pool’ entry.
- The British 27th (30/7/44), 28th (21/8/44), and 137th (26/9/43) Arm X’s were historically disbanded after Jul I 43, which need to be added to the SF OB.
- The British 32nd Tank X was destroyed at Tobruk in 6/41 and historically disbanded on 1/8/41, so it has been deleted from the Oct II 42 Repl. Pool.
- The 2nd Support Group was historically disbanded 18/5/41, so it has been deleted from the Oct II 42 Repl. Pool.
- The Indian 11th, 18th, and 29th Inf X’s are listed as scrapped in TEM 63. In this scenario they are moved to the Repl.Pool and 3x Ind Inf RP’s are deleted from the initial accumulated Ind Inf RP’s. However, there is 1 Ind Inf RP added to production from Jan I to Jun I 42 so Indian units can be withdrawn at full strength, and the 10th Inf XX can convert to its SF counterpart.
- The 95th AT II has been added to the Oct II 42 Repl. Pool, and on Mar I 43 the 106th and 107th AT II’s are also added to the Repl. Pool.
