Allied Turn

The US receives another Inf XX along with the famous Forty-four-deuce regiment. The US rebuilds the 5th, 30th, and 34th Inf XX’s, and the British rebuild 2x Art [xx]. The US replaces an Eng X, an Inf III, and an Arm II. The British convert their 11th Arm XX. The US replaces an air group and repairs 7, and the British repair 7.

The Axis player thought about changing tactics against the Allied air attacks on his airbases, huddling on the ground behind heavy AA, but decided he needs every AA barrel on the front line against the Allied GS. In 15 attacks by P-47’s the Allies abort 5 German air groups at a cost of 1 killed and 3 aborted to themselves.

The first Allied attack is against a 19-pt stack just northwest of Evreux by the Canadian 5th Arm XX, the US 45th, 83rd, and 85th Inf XX’s, and the British 1st and 78th Inf XX’s. With 7 pts of AA in the target hex the Allies decide not to fly GS. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘1’ for an EX. The Germans reduce a Pz XX and eliminate their AA, and the Allies reduce the US 45th Inf XX, a British Art [xx], and eliminate a British AA X. The US 83rd Inf XX advances into the hex.

The next attack is against a 15-pt stack in Evreux by the British 7th Arm XX, the US 82nd Abn XX, and the British 56th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 2. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘5’ for a DH. The Germans reduce a PzG XX. The British 56th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The third attack is against a 13-pt stack just southeast of Evreux by the Polish 1st Arm XX, and the US 2nd and 8th Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 bomber groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 2. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for an HX. The Germans eliminate 2x Pz cadres and an AA ant. The Allies reduce a British Art [xx]. The fourth attack is against a 15-pt stack just outside the Paris city limits by the US 1st Arm XX, and the US 5th and 9th Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA returns 1. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘3’ for a DR. The US 5th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The fifth attack is against a Pz cadre in the northwest suburbs of Paris by the British 1st Arm XX, the Canadian 3rd Inf XX, and the French 1st Free French XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 1. At 5:1, +1 the Allies roll a ‘4’ for a DE. The Germans eliminate the Pz cadre. The Free French 1st Inf XX advances into Paris.

The sixth attack is against a 13-pt stack behind the Seine in the town of Melum by the British 11th Arm XX and 3rd Inf XX, and 2x Art [xx]’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 12 air groups. Springing into action the Germans fly in a DAS mission of 4 air groups, all they had available. The Allied CAP of a Spit XII and 3x Spit IX’s intercept and kill 3 and return 1. German AA aborts 2 and returns 3 of the GS mission. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for an HX. The Germans eliminate a PzG cadre, a PzG X, and 3x AA ants. The Allies reduce the British 3rd Inf XX. The British 11th Arm XX advances into the hex.

The seventh attack is against an Inf XX in the southwest suburbs of Paris by the French 2nd Arm XX, the US 3rd Inf XX, and the British 5th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA returns 3. At 5:1, +1 the Allies roll a ‘1’ for a DR. The German Inf XX is reduced for retreating thru Allied ZOC’s. The French 2nd Arm XX advances into this part of Paris.

The eighth attack is against a 9-pt stack in a fort behind the Seine just northeast of Sens by the Canadian 4th Arm XX, the US 35th Inf XX, and the Canadian 1st Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 2 and returns 1. At 6:1 the Allies roll a ‘4’ for a DE. The Germans eliminate a Pz XX and 3x AA ants. The US 35th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The ninth attack is against a 9-pt stack in a fort behind the Seine just southeast of Melum by the British 6th Arm XX and 51st Inf XX, and the US 88th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 bomber groups. German AA returns 2. At 5:1 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for a DR. A German Inf XX is reduced retreating thru Allied ZOC’s. The US 88th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The tenth attack is against a 17-pt stack in a fort just east of Sens by the US 3rd Arm XX, the US 1st Inf XX, and the Canadian 2nd Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA returns 2. At 4:1 the Allies roll a ‘5’ for a DH. The Germans reduce a Pz XX. The US 1st Inf XX advances into the hex.

The eleventh attack is against a 17-pt stack in woods just east of Troyes by US 4th Arm and 36th Inf XX, and the British 50th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA returns 2. At 4:1, -2 the Allies roll a ‘4’ for an HX. The Germans reduce a PzG XX and eliminate a pair of ants. The Allies reduce the US 36th Inf XX. The British 50th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The twelfth attack is against a 21-pt stack in fort just southwest of Troyes by the US 2nd Arm XX, the NZ Mech XX, and the US 4th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 1. At 4:1 the Allies roll a ‘6’ for a DE. The German reduce a Pz XX and eliminate an AA ant. The US 4th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The thirteenth attack is against a 17-pt stack in woods 2 hexes south of Troyes by the US 6th Arm XX, the British Guards Arm XX, the British 6th Abn XX, and the US 30th and 34th Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 2 and returns 2. At 6:1, -2 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for an EX. The Germans reduce a Pz XX and eliminate a pair of ants. The Allies reduce the US 30th and a British Art [xx]. The US 34th Inf XX advances into the hex.

The final attack is against a 13-pt stack in woods 2 hexes southwest of Chaumont by the US 5th Arm XX, the French 1st Arm XX, and the US 29th and 91st Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 bomber groups, all they have left. German AA aborts 2. At 7:1, -2 the Allies roll a ‘5’ for a DE. The Germans reduce a PzG XX and eliminate a Mot Inf III. The Allies do not advance after combat because it would put them within 10 hexes of the Westwall.

During the combat phase the Allies destroyed the entire Axis front line from the hex just northwest of Evreux down to the hex 2 hexes east of Auxerre. They liberated 2 major city hexes of Paris, crossed the Seine River, and destroyed 4 forts. During exploitation the Allies find a 7-pt stack, and they manage to overrun it at 8:1.

Axis Turn

On this turn the Germans receive a Pz XX, 2x PzG XX’s, a Para-Inf XX, 3x Inf XX’s, and 2x PzG X’s. The Italians receive an Arm XX. The Germans replace a PzG X, 4x Inf XX’s, and 4x Static XX’s, and rebuild a Pz XX and a PzG XX. The Germans disband 5x RE’s in GG for 8x Arm RP’s and 9x Inf RP’s, 5x RE’s in the West for 6x Arm RP’s and 10x Inf RP’s, and 3x RE’s in the South for 6x Inf RP’s. The Germans replace 3 air groups and repair 4.

The Axis defense line starts in the port fort at Le Havre and goes in the straight line southeast for 10 hexes, including 3 woods hexes, the full city hex of downtown Paris, and a partial city hex. The defense line goes around a bulge created by a 39-pt full AEC Allied stack, and then continues southeast in a straight line for 11 hexes to the Swiss border at Belfort. The Axis player is determined to deny the Allies the VP’s for the last 2 hexes of Paris in the upcoming VP Check. By the end of the turn the Axis defense line is still 23 hexes long and has an average defense strength of 14.5 pts.
