This page is being currently rebuilt, but in 2025/26 we hope to create a small collection of freely available ressources for the student of military history, mainly by linking to books and sources that are available online, and creating bibliographies to topics that are of interest to us.

L'Esercito Italiano nella Grande Guerra 1915-1918

Official Histories of the First World War

Its been more than a hundred years since the First World War started. Its course and outcome defined most of the 20th century. Receding from public memory into history, it is also long enough in the past for the various official histories of the war to go into public domain. These days, most of the official histories are available online.

Official Histories of the Second World War

Often apologetic, timid in their criticism, and one-sided, official histories of wars are nevertheless invaluable secondary sources for the historian, especially if paired and contrasted with the no-less official descriptions of their former foes. We've assembled a collection of official histories of the Second World War.

Publications of the Austro-Hungarian Kriegsarchiv

The Austrio-Hungarian Kriegsarchiv in Vienna published a host of material about the Austrian Army and its wars from the middle ages up to 1918.  The current bibliography only contains a fraction of the documents, but will be expanded over time. The publications ended with the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian empire in 1918.
