Allied Turn

The Allies receive very little in the way of reinforcements this turn. The US replace 3x Mot AA X’s, a Mech Cav X, and an Eng III. The US rebuilds the 36th Inf XX, and the British rebuild the 15th and 53rd Inf XX’s. The US replaces 3 air groups and repairs 9, and the British repair 3.

In the attacks on German airbases the Allies use 18 fighter groups to kill 2 and abort 8 German air groups at a cost of 1 killed and 2 aborted to themselves.

The first Allied attack is against an empty port fort at Cherbourg by the US 79th, 85th and 90th Inf XX’s and 3x RE’s of Siege Art. At 7:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for a DR. The Allies capture this medium port undamaged.

The next Allied attack is against a 13-pt stack just southwest of Le Havre by the US 45th and 83rd Inf XX’s, the British 1st and 78th Inf XX’s, and the Indian 8th and 10th Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of just 2 fighter groups. German AA returns both of them. At 6:1 the Allies roll a ‘4’ for a DH. The Germans reduce a PzG XX, and the Allies advance the US 45th and 83rd Inf XX’s into the hex.

The third attack is against a 17-pt stack just west of the town of Evreux by the Canadian 5th Arm XX, the Polish 1st Arm XX, and the US 2nd, 5th, and 8th Inf XX’s. The Allied fly in a GS mission of 10 fighter groups. German AA returns 2. At 6:1, -2 the Allies roll a ‘2’ for an EX. The German reduce a Pz XX and eliminate an ant. The Allies reduce the US 5th Inf XX and a British Art [xx]. The US advances their 2nd and 8th Inf XX’s into the hex.

The fourth attack is against a 17-pt stack just southwest of Evreux by the US 1st Arm XX, the 82nd Abn XX, and the British 56th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA returns just 1. At 6:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘5’ for a DE. The Germans reduce a Pz XX and eliminate a pair of ants.

The fifth attack is against a 19-pt stack 2 hexes northeast of Chartres by the British 1st and 7th arm XX and the Canadian 4th Arm XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA returns 3. At 5:1, +2 the Allies roll a ‘3’ for a DE. The German reduce an Inf XX, and eliminate 2x PzG X’s. The Allies advance the British 1st Arm XX into the hex.

The sixth attack is against a 15-pt stack just west of Paris by the British 11th Arm XX, the US 3rd and 9th Inf XX’s, and the Canadian 3rd Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. The seventh attack is against a 15-pt stack just southwest of Paris by the British 6th Arm XX, the British 51st Inf XX, and the French 9th Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 12 air groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 2. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘4’ for a DR. The Allies advance the British 51st Inf XX into the hex.

The eighth attack is against a 17-pt stack just southwest of the town of Melun by the British Guards Arm XX, the US 34th and 88th Inf XX’s, and the British 3rd and 5th Inf XX’s. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 1. At 5:1, -2 the Allies roll a ‘3’ for an HX. The Germans eliminate a Pz cadre, a PzG cadre, and a pair of ants. The ninth attack is against a 19-pt stack in the town of Sens by the French 1st Arm XX, the US 36th Inf XX, the British 50th Inf XX, and the Canadian 1st Inf XX. The tenth attack is against a 15-pt stack just northeast of Auxerre by the French 2nd Arm XX, the British 6th Abn XX, the US 30th Inf XX, and the Canadian 2nd Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 8 air groups. German AA aborts 4, half the GS mission. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘1’ for an EX. The Germans reduce a PzG XX and eliminate ants. The US reduce the 30th Inf XX, and eliminate an Inf III, and an Arm II. The Canadian 2nd Inf XX advances into the hex.

The eleventh attack is against a 17-pt stack 2 hexes west of Troyes by the US 4th and 5th Arm XX, the US 1st Inf XX, and the British 53rd Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 1 and returns 2. At 5:1, -1 the Allies roll a ‘6’ for a DE. The Germans eliminate their entire stack. The US 1st Inf XX advances into the hex.

The twelfth attack is against a 15-pt stack 2 hexes west of Chaumont by the US 2nd and 3rd Arm XX and the NZ Mech XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 12 air groups. German AA aborts 2 and returns 4. At 6:1, +1 the Allies roll a ‘3’ for a DE. The Germans reduce a Res Pz XX and an ET Inf XX, and eliminate the rest of the stack. The Allies advance their entire c/m stack into the hex.

The final attack is against a 15-pt stack 3 hexes north of Dijon by the US 6th Arm XX, the US 4th, 29th, and 91st Inf XX’s, the British 15th Inf XX, and the French 1st Inf XX. The Allies fly in a GS mission of 10 air groups. German AA aborts 1. At 8:1 the Allies roll a ‘5’ for a DE. Cut off by the previous attack 2x German Inf XX’s are eliminated along with an ant. The Allies advance the US 29th Inf XX into the hex.

During exploitation the Allies were able to use the c/m stack they had advanced in their second to last attack to overrun an 8-pt stack at 8:1, +3 odds.

Axis Turn

he Axis get no reinforcements this turn, but they do manage to convert 1 of the Res Pz XX’s they should have converted the previous turn. The Germans replace a PzG XX, 3x PzG X’s, and 4x Inf XX’s. The Italians replace a pair of Art III’s. The ET replace a small XX. The Germans replace 2 air groups and repair 5.

The main defense line starts in the port of Le Havre, goes southeast for 1 hex into a canal intensive hex, and then southwest for a hex to just northwest of Evreux. From that point the front goes in a straight line for 13 hexes using the 2 major city hexes on the west side of Paris, 3 hexes behind the Seine River, 2 woods hexes, and 3 forts. The last hex, just west of Chaumont is less than 10 hexes from the Westwall, as is the rest of the front to the south. That front goes southwest for a hex and then in a straight line for 6 hexes southeast down to the Swiss border. By the end of the turn the front line is 23 hexes long and has an average defense strength of 13 pts, a significant drop due to the loss of more than 120 defense strength pts the turn before.
